Who We Are

The Committee for Media Access is made up of Chicagoans committed to ensuring the survival and further development of CAN TV, the public’s community television resource. We believe strongly in the principle of free speech and in access to television for all Chicagoans.

The Committee formed to make sure that the City’s cable franchise negotiations, beginning in 2011 with RCN, produce community benefits that serve the public as required by the city’s cable ordinance. Currently the Committee is working to advocate for another strong community benefits agreement with Comcast, a major cable provider in the City of Chicago.
